RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – November 7, 2025 – The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games commenced today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing together over 3,000 athletes from 57 Islamic nations for competition across 23 sports. The multi-sport event, running through November 21, 2025, signifies a renewed commitment to unity and athletic excellence within the Islamic world.
This year’s Games mark a notable milestone - the 20th anniversary of the inaugural Islamic Solidarity Games held in Makkah in 2005. Saudi Arabia’s hosting underscores its dedication to fostering solidarity through sport and its emergence as a prominent international sporting hub. The event is being live-streamed globally on DAZN and ANOC TV, offering worldwide access to the competitions.
Table tennis holds a distinguished position within the Games, having been featured at every edition since the beginning. ITTF President Petra Sörling attended the opening ceremony, recognizing the sport’s consistent presence and contribution to the event’s legacy.
Historically, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Turkey, and the Arab Republic of Egypt have been dominant forces in table tennis at the Islamic Solidarity Games, consistently securing the highest medal counts. The ISG 2025 aims to celebrate not only athletic prowess but also the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia and the diverse tapestry of the Islamic world.
