Jakarta – Indonesia‘s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi sadewa stated tuesday he anticipates the nation’s economic growth to reach 5.6% to 5.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025,and revealed a playful incentive from President Prabowo Subianto should that target be met.
“It’s not as I’m good, but the President said that if I’m given a prize above 5.5%,I’m actually teaching the prize,” Purbaya joked during Ecoverse 2025 at The Westin,Jakarta. “I don’t know what the prize is. This is clear, the important thing is that this growth will continue to be maintained in the future.” The promise of a reward underscores the Prabowo administration’s focus on robust economic performance as a key indicator of success.
Purbaya emphasized his commitment to ensuring the prosperous implementation of government programs to achieve the projected growth. He plans to actively monitor and address obstacles hindering domestic industry, alongside protecting the local market from illegal imports. Currently, he noted, fiscal and monetary policies are aligned and operating effectively.
The Minister indicated a coordinated effort involving fiscal, monetary, and private sector initiatives will be crucial to sustaining economic momentum. “Fiscal and monetary are already easy, the path is almost the same, in the same rhythm,” he said. “In the private sector…I will also go to several industries and we will eliminate bottlenecks that are hampering the progress of domestic industry.”
