Ikea ⁣Unveils Next Generation of Smart Home Devices, ⁢Expanding Matter Compatibility

January ‌2026 will see a ⁣significant refresh of ikea’s ⁤smart home lineup, with ⁣a host of new‌ sensors, buttons, sockets, and a⁤ comprehensive series of ‍smart ⁢light bulbs‍ poised ‍to hit shelves. The new products, successors ⁤to⁢ existing ranges, are designed to⁢ simplify smart ‌home adoption and broaden accessibility, according to the company.

Ikea is positioning this update as a key ⁤step towards making smart home technology user-friendly and affordable for‌ everyone.While existing smart home products will remain compatible and continue to function, Ikea plans to⁣ phase ‍them ⁣out as the⁣ new generation becomes available. The company’s commitment to the Matter standard ensures interoperability with a wider range ​of ‍smart home ecosystems.

The ‌upcoming product range includes:

* Mosquito spray: A motion and light sensor, replacing ‍the⁤ Vallhorn.
* With⁤ Alpstu: An air quality ⁢sensor⁣ (temperature, humidity,‌ CO2, PM2.5) with time display, ⁣succeeding Vindstyrka.
* Road ‌trip: Both a double button⁤ and a rotary knob,successors to Somrig.
* Timber fleet: A ​thermometer and ⁣hygrometer ⁤with a display.
* Scrapbook: ⁤ A water leakage sensor, replacing Badring.
* Mosquito bite: A door/window ⁤sensor, succeeding ​the Parasol.
* barbecue area: A smart socket with consumption​ measurement,⁤ replacing​ Inspelning.
* ​ Berth: A‍ new series ‍of smart light bulbs,⁤ succeeding the⁣ Trådfri series.

The Berth light bulb series will be available‌ in E27, E14, and GU10 bases,⁢ offering a variety⁢ of options:

* E27 (60mm‌ diameter): RGB and‍ white (1055 ‍lm), white dimmable (1055 lm, 470 lm, 1521⁢ lm),⁣ clear white dimmable (470 lm).
*⁤ E27 (95mm diameter): ‍ Clear‍ white dimmable (810 lm).
* E14 (45mm diameter): RGB and white (806 lm), white dimmable ⁤(470 lm, x2).
* E14: Clear candle, ‌white‌ dimmable (470 lm).
* ​ ⁤ GU10: ‍Spot bulb, RGB and white ‍(470 lm), spot bulb, ‍white dimmable (575 lm).

“Until now, ​smart home⁣ technology ⁢has not been‌ easy enough for most ‍people to use. ⁣Not even⁢ available for many to⁢ consider,”​ says David Granath, Ikea manager.‍ “These innovations bring us ‌closer to helping everyone feel ready and confident to get started​ with a smart home.”
