Recent data indicates ‍the ‌city is closing ⁢in on the No. 1 spot‍ for best living wage, offering residents greater ⁢financial flexibility compared ⁢to other large Texas cities and nationwide.

The Alamo City’s appeal stems from a comparatively low‍ cost of living, ⁣currently estimated at $40,362 per‌ year, according to a report by GOBankingRates​ released in August. This is⁤ nine ​percent lower than the national average and four percent​ below the ‌Texas average,as noted‍ by the Levi Rodgers Real Estate Group. For a single adult adhering to the 50/30/30 budgeting rule, a comfortable annual income in San Antonio falls ​between $80,000 and $86,694.

In contrast, ​other major Texas cities demand higher incomes for a comparable lifestyle. Houston requires an annual income of $86,000 to $90,000 with⁤ a total cost ‌of living of $43,438, while⁣ Dallas residents need approximately $95,000, facing a $47,589 annual cost⁢ of living. Austin, ⁢consistently the most expensive city in Texas, ⁢requires a yearly income ranging from $100,000 to ⁣$125,000 to live comfortably, ⁤with‌ a total cost of living ⁤of $62,863.
