Honda Prelude to Revive European Market with 200 HP Hybrid in 2026

After a 25-year hiatus, Honda is⁤ bringing the Prelude back to European ⁤roads in⁤ spring 2026. The sixth-generation model will feature an improved ⁤hybrid powertrain borrowed⁣ from the Civic, delivering 200 horsepower.

The coupe originally left the European market in 2001 as consumer preference shifted towards‌ more practical vehicle types. The new Prelude’s hybrid system combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine‌ with two electric motors, and incorporates Honda’s new ‍S+ Shift technology. This system simulates an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, allowing drivers ⁢to utilize steering wheel-mounted paddles for a more engaging driving experience. Activated via a central console button, S+ Shift provides manual gear selection, while reverting to⁢ smooth, automatic shifting in everyday driving.

Adaptive shock absorbers and multiple driving modes will further enhance both comfort and handling. the interior boasts a modern design ⁤with a digital instrument panel and a freestanding multimedia screen, while retaining physical controls for climate functions – a design choice intended to ⁢improve driver safety.

The Prelude ⁢maintains a 2+2 seating configuration typical of sports coupes, offering limited rear passenger space best suited for children or smaller adults.

while Honda has not yet announced‌ pricing, industry experts estimate the Prelude will cost around 50,000 euros.
