‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ Gets Second Season Renewal at HBO
HBO has greenlit a second batch of episodes for its upcoming series, ‘The Knight of the seven Kingdoms,’ well before the premiere of its first season. The renewal ensures continued expansion of the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe and provides content to bridge the gap between seasons of ‘House of the Dragon.’
The series, based on George R.R. Martin’s tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, will premiere in 2027. Casey Bloys, HBO’s director, confirmed the decision, noting the episodes will be a lighter, half-hour format compared to the scale of previous series. Starring Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, the show is set 72 years before the events of ‘House of the Dragon’ and, despite being adapted from three short novels, is planned to span at least three seasons. HBO is actively developing additional prequel and sequel series alongside ‘The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ signaling a continued commitment to the franchise.
