Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max to Launch in UK March 2026, Bundling TNT Sports
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has announced its HBO Max streaming service will become available in the UK in March 2026.Launches in Germany and Italy, including Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg, are slated for January 13th, 2026. The service will combine content from WBD’s film and television studios with factual and sports programming, including TNT Sports in the UK and Eurosport in Germany and Italy.
The UK launch has been delayed due to a long-running licensing deal between WBD and Sky for HBO original series and Warner Bros films, which expires at the end of 2025. A revised agreement ensures future WBD series debuting before the end of 2025 will remain on Sky’s platforms, with Sky customers receiving bundled access to the ad-supported version of HBO Max. WBD will then be able to market content directly to non-Sky subscribers.WBD’s children’s programming will continue to be available through Sky for “years to come.”
TNT Sports’ portfolio includes live Premier League and FA cup soccer, Prem Rugby, and MotoGP. It currently broadcasts the Uefa champions League until 2027, having recently lost the renewal to Paramount+.
Subscribers in Germany and Italy will have access to three subscription tiers with varying device support and audio/visual quality, with sports coverage available as an add-on.HBO Max, previously known as Max, launched in the US in 2023 and has since expanded to other European markets.
