“GTA VI” Release Delayed to November 2026
The highly anticipated release of ”Grand Theft Auto VI” has been pushed back to November 19, 2026, rockstar Games announced Friday, citing a need to ensure the game meets its quality standards. The delay marks the second postponement for the title, originally slated for a 2025 launch.
The decision impacts millions of gamers worldwide eagerly awaiting the next installment in the blockbuster franchise. GTA V, released in 2013, has sold over 200 million copies and remains a cultural phenomenon, available on most consoles and PC. The delay underscores the immense pressure to deliver a polished experience for GTA VI, which will return to vice City – a setting inspired by Miami – and promises a return to the series’ gangster roots, reminiscent of a previous episode set there in 2002.
Rockstar Games stated the delay is necessary to “finish the game with the expected level of finish.” The company acknowledged the disappointment the news will cause but emphasized its commitment to delivering a groundbreaking title.
The Grand Theft Auto series has consistently drawn both critical acclaim and controversy due to its depiction of criminal behavior. Critics have argued the games may encourage real-life imitation of in-game actions, accusations the creators have consistently refuted.
The announcement follows a leak of early gameplay footage in 2022, which briefly sent shockwaves through the gaming community and prompted an investigation by Rockstar Games.
