Google Maps Updates Location Search During Navigation with New Filters
Google is rolling out an updated location search feature within Google Maps and Android Auto, designed to streamline finding destinations during active navigation. The update introduces a list-based interface with filters to refine search results for points of interest along a route – such as restaurants or electric vehicle charging stations.
Android Authority was among the first to access the new functionality. The revamped interface displays a pull-up map at the bottom of the screen, presenting a list of nearby locations and their distances. Users can then apply filters including “Just Open,” “Nearby,” and “Near Target” to narrow their search. A quick-call button has also been added for faster contact with selected locations.
The changes are being implemented simultaneously for both the Google Maps mobile app and Android Auto. While a specific release date for the wider rollout has not been announced, the integration of these filters into Android Auto has been confirmed.
