Google Account Web Settings Receive Modern Redesign with material 3 Update
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – November 21, 2023 – Google is rolling out a redesigned web interface for its Google account settings, bringing it in line with the Material 3 (M3) design language currently used on Android. The update simplifies the layout, emphasizes key actions, and offers a more consistent user experience across platforms.
The overhaul addresses a long-standing need for modernization, aligning the web settings with the visual style introduced in the Android version accessible via “Manage your Google Account” in profile menus. This redesign impacts all Google Account users accessing settings via the web, aiming to provide a cleaner, more intuitive way to manage personal information, security settings, and subscriptions.
The new homepage features a prominent display of the user’s avatar, name, and email address, alongside a familiar “Search Google account” bar. Swift actions – including access to password management, device settings, My Activity, and email controls – are now readily available. Google has removed several cards from the previous layout to achieve a simpler, more focused design reminiscent of the Google Search homepage.
Individual settings pages now utilize Material 3 Expressive containers with a white background for improved information grouping, presented in a single, narrower column. While some links redirect to existing pages – such as Password Manager to passwords.google.com and Google One storage to one.google.com – new sections like “Family Group” have been added.
The update represents a notable visual refresh for a core Google service, enhancing usability and consistency for millions of users.
