goncalo feio Set to Take Reins at Radomiak Radom in Ekstraklasa Return
Radom,Poland – former Legia Warsaw coach Goncalo Feio is poised for a swift return to the Polish Ekstraklasa, currently negotiating a deal to become the new manager of Radomiak Radom. The move comes just weeks after a brief, 13-day stint with French Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque and marks a significant shift for the club known as the Greens.
The appointment is being strongly pushed by Radomiak’s sports director, Antonio Ribeiro, brother of Emmanuel Ribeiro, a coach who previously worked alongside Feio at Legia and Dunkerque. Radomiak boasts a highly international dressing room, a factor expected to facilitate integration for the multilingual Portuguese coach.
Feio’s arrival signals substantial changes to Radomiak’s staff, with initial movements already underway on Tuesday. Daniel Wojtasz, a former colleague of Feio’s from their time at Legia, has already joined the club. The 35-year-old Portuguese manager is anticipated to assume considerable authority within the association.
His departure from Legia followed a season where he guided the team to the Polish Cup title and the conference League quarterfinals, but a disappointing 5th-place finish in the Ekstraklasa ultimately led to a breakdown in contract negotiations. While finances weren’t the primary obstacle, Feio’s expectations regarding his role weren’t met. During his tenure, he oversaw the progress of young talents Jan Ziółkowski and Maxi Oyedele, who were afterward sold by Legia for a combined total exceeding EUR 12 million this summer.
Feio’s brief experience in France with USL Dunkerque ended abruptly, with the coach citing a discrepancy between promises made by club presidents and the actual working conditions.
Radomiak’s players have been granted a day off on Wednesday and are scheduled to resume training on Thursday, when Feio is expected to lead his first session. He could potentially make his debut on the sidelines during Radomiak’s away match against Lechia Gdańsk on Monday.
