Samsung Poised to Ditch Boxy Design with Rounded Galaxy S26 Ultra
Jakarta, Indonesia – Samsung is reportedly moving away from the angular design that has defined its flagship Ultra series since 2022, with the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra expected to feature a more rounded aesthetic.Leaked facts, first reported by Gizmochina on Monday, suggests a significant shift in the phone’s form factor, prioritizing ergonomics and possibly aligning Samsung’s design language with competitors.
The current boxy design debuted with the Galaxy S22 Ultra and continued with the S23 and S24 Ultra models. However, according to reliable leaker Ice Universe (@ice universe) on August 24th, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will see its four corners considerably rounded.
This design change is anticipated to improve the phone’s in-hand feel and make it more comfortable to carry. ”If the information is correct, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be easier to hold and not fill the bag,” the report notes. The move also brings Samsung closer in design to rivals like Google’s Pixel 10 Pro and apple’s anticipated iPhone 17 Pro.
The Galaxy S26 series is currently slated for release in January 2026, with the Ultra model launching alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro and a rebranded Galaxy S26 Edge.
While the overall design is evolving, key features are expected to remain. Initial reports indicate the Galaxy S26 Ultra will retain its 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a 2x aspect ratio and continued support for the S Pen stylus. Samsung is also aiming for a slimmer and lighter build.
Under the hood, the S26 Ultra is almost certain to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip. Camera capabilities are also expected to be a major focus,with a rumored 200MP main sensor boasting a fast f/1.4 aperture.
Recent leaks last month suggested the camera layout on the S26 Ultra may draw inspiration from the Galaxy Z Fold7, though the overall corner design is expected to be more rounded then the current S25 Ultra.
