Apple TV to Continue Streaming Friday Night Baseball Through 2028
NEW YORK – November 20, 2025 – Major League Baseball (MLB) today confirmed that Apple TV subscribers will continue to have free access to two “Friday Night Baseball” games each week, extending the partnership through the 2026, 2027, and 2028 seasons. The declaration comes amidst a broader restructuring of MLB’s media rights, signaling a continued, albeit focused, role for Apple in broadcasting live sports.
Recent speculation suggested Apple might exit the MLB broadcasting landscape, but those rumors proved unfounded. The league has simultaneously announced a three-year agreement with ESPN, NBC, and netflix for broader coverage, while solidifying Apple’s position as the exclusive home for select Friday night matchups. This arrangement impacts fans seeking access to MLB games, notably those who prefer streaming options, and demonstrates Apple’s ongoing investment in live sports content as a value-add for its Apple TV service.
Apple began broadcasting Friday night doubleheaders in 2022, initially under the Apple TV+ banner (now Apple TV). the new MLB media rights deals see Sunday Night Baseball, Sunday Leadoff, and the Wild Card Series moving to NBC, while Netflix will broadcast the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the 2026 Field of Dreams Game, and the World Baseball Classic in Japan.
ESPN will retain rights to a national weekday game package and continue distributing MLB.TV, the league’s streaming service.Fox will broadcast the All-Star Game, World Series, League Championship Series, and Division Series, with TBS airing the LCS, Division Series, and regular season games on Tuesdays.
