NATIONAL FIRST⁢ RESPONDERS⁤ DAY – November 12, ‍2023 – Boulder Crest Foundation ⁤today released “Burdens Shared: The Weight ⁢of the Shield,” a short film spotlighting the challenges faced⁣ by first responders and the path ‍toward healing thru Posttraumatic Growth (PTG). The film ‍follows the stories of two police officers,Steven and Donnie, who found support and a renewed ⁣sense of purpose through Boulder Crest’s struggle Well program.

Both men credit the program with helping them navigate the aftermath of trauma.”I was fixing myself through the⁤ help of others, but I was still broken,” ⁤Steven recalls. ⁢”Boulder Crest dramatically changed my life.” Donnie adds, “I can either choose to be a victim or a ‌warrior. ⁤I chose to be a victim‌ for⁤ a long time. Now I choose to ⁢be a warrior.”

Boulder Crest Foundation, a nationally recognized nonprofit, utilizes‍ PTG – an evidence-based science demonstrating that struggle can be a catalyst for growth and positive change – to train first responders, veterans,‍ and service members. Their Struggle Well program proactively equips first responders to reframe adversity, manage stress, and grow through hardship.

“First Responders Day isn’t just about ‍appreciation -⁣ it’s about action,” said Josh Goldberg, CEO of Boulder Crest Foundation. “by sharing these⁤ stories, we hope to ⁣remind every ‍first responder that they’re not alone – ‍and that ⁢growth and ‌healing are‌ always possible.”

Boulder Crest offers programs including Warrior PATHH, struggle Well, and ⁤PTG Certification to veterans, first responders, active-duty military, and their families.
