Egyptian Actor Fikry Abdel Hamid, Known for Adel Imam Resemblance, Dies
Cairo - Actor Fikry Abdel Hamid, recognized for his striking resemblance to prominent Egyptian actor Adel Imam, has died, his son Muhammad Fikry announced on facebook via Adel Imam’s account. The proclamation requested prayers for the deceased father, Abd al-Hamid.
Abdel Hamid’s passing marks a loss for the Egyptian entertainment community, particularly for fans of the long-running play The Body Guard, in which he gained prominence. His likeness to Imam frequently enough drew attention, and he leveraged this in his career, notably through his role in the popular theatrical production. Funeral prayers will be held after noon at the Amr bin Al-Aas Mosque, with condolences accepted the following day after Morocco prayer at the police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed.
Abdel Hamid’s filmography includes appearances in Sleep in Honey (1996) and Captain Hema (2008). Though, he became widely known for his participation in The Body Guard, a play that ran for 11 consecutive seasons beginning in 1999 before concluding in 2010.
The play’s plot centers on a prisoner, Adham, and a deal with a businessman, Saad, accused of theft. Complicating matters is a love triangle involving Saad’s wife,Aisha,and Adham,leading to betrayal and attempts to escape justice.
Throughout its run, The Body Guard experienced cast changes. Mustafa Mitwalli initially played a key role but was later replaced by Mohamed Abu Dawood. Sherine Saif Al-Nasr and raghada also alternated in a role during the play’s extensive performance history, with Sherine ultimately appearing in the filmed version.
