emporia State Dominates Mid-American Regional Disc Golf Championship
Emporia State University’s disc golf programme achieved a resounding victory at the Mid-American Regional Championship, securing titles in both the men’s and women’s divisions this weekend. The Hornets showcased extraordinary performance across all competition levels, highlighted by individual championships and decisive team wins.
The success at the regional level underscores emporia State’s growing prominence in collegiate disc golf. The program’s performance positions them strongly as they prepare for the college Disc Golf Championships in April, with national titles now firmly within reach. This tournament serves as a crucial stepping stone for players aiming for individual and team accolades on the national stage.
In the women’s competition, Madeline Joiner and Isabella Parker finished at two under par, securing a two-stroke lead over teammates Atlanta Krueger and Maya Ringgold, who finished at even par. The duo of josalyn Wipf and Lily corkill from Hesston College placed third at +21.
The Hornets’ D2 men’s team, comprised of Caden Stucky, Grant Yoder, Joshua sterner, and Isaiah Esquivel, converted a seven-stroke lead into a seven-stroke victory, finishing at -24 for the tournament. Wichita State finished second at -17 after both teams shot seven under on Sunday. Notably, a second-ranked hornets team would have finished at -29 to win by two strokes over Liberty.
Individual accolades further highlighted Emporia State’s dominance. Micah tatro claimed the men’s D1 individual title, while Atlanta Krueger secured the women’s championship. Grant Yoder completed the Hornet’s singles sweep with a victory in the D2 men’s competition.
Emporia State will now conclude their fall competition schedule and begin preparations for the College Disc Golf Championships,scheduled for April 8-11 in Rock Hill,S.C.
