‘Elder Scrolls VI’ Development Continues Daily, But Release Remains Distant, Says Todd Howard
Bethesda Game Studios’ highly anticipated Teh Elder Scrolls VI is still years away from release, despite ongoing daily development, according to studio director Todd Howard. In a recent interview with GQ, howard confirmed that hundreds of developers are currently working on Fallout projects – including support for Fallout 76 – alongside consistent progress on the next Elder Scrolls title.
Despite the dedicated team, Howard cautioned that The Elder Scrolls VI is “still far” from completion. He acknowledged the lengthy wait since Skyrim‘s 2011 release, explaining Bethesda intentionally spaces out mainline Elder Scrolls games to avoid simply delivering “plus one” sequels. “I think itS also good for the audience to take a break,” Howard stated. “The Elder Scrolls has been to long, let’s be clear. But we wanted to do something new with Starfield. We needed a creative reset.”
Bethesda recently announced multiple Fallout projects are in development, potentially including a remastered version of Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas. The release order of these projects relative to The Elder Scrolls VI remains unknown, leaving fans to await official announcements from Bethesda.
