WhatsApp ⁤Users Targeted by Phishing Scam Impersonating El Al ‍Airlines

A new phishing scam circulating ‌on⁣ WhatsApp promises⁤ prizes ⁣through a fake “El Al Airlines” quiz, authorities warn. The‍ scam attempts‍ to steal personal and banking ‌facts from ⁤unsuspecting users by directing⁢ them to suspicious websites. Israel’s National Cyber Directorate (INCD)⁤ has issued an alert advising citizens to be vigilant against these fraudulent messages.

The scam exploits the El Al brand to lure victims, ⁣capitalizing⁢ on ⁢potential interest in travel deals. Phishing attacks like this pose a important risk ⁣to⁣ individuals’ financial security⁣ and privacy. The INCD urges anyone who receives ⁣such a message to ⁣avoid clicking⁣ links or sharing any personal details.

Several red flags indicate a fraudulent ⁣message. These include urls unrelated to El al,⁣ such as domains like luhop.cn, noticeable ⁤spelling ⁢errors, and urgent calls to action like “limited-time offer.” Scammers often create ‌a sense of urgency to pressure victims into⁣ acting‌ without thinking critically.

The INCD‍ recommends ‌verifying any offers directly through El Al’s official website and communication channels. If ⁣you are unsure about a message’s legitimacy, report it promptly to the INCD’s 119 hotline. Do not engage with the sender or provide any⁣ information.
