CAMBRIDGE,Mass. – The Boston College Fencing team launched its 2025 season with a prosperous showing at Wednesday night’s Beanpot tournament, hosted at Harvard‘s Malkin Athletic Center. Both the men’s and women’s teams posted 2-1 records against a competitive field including Brandeis, MIT, and Harvard.
the annual Beanpot competition serves as a key early-season test for the Eagles, providing valuable experience and a benchmark for progress as they prepare for the remainder of their schedule. Strong performances across all weapons demonstrated the team’s depth and potential for a successful season.
The men’s team secured victories over Brandeis (16-11) and MIT (18-9) before a narrow 13-14 defeat against Harvard. Men’s epee and saber each contributed a 2-1 record, while foil went 1-2.
On the women’s side, Boston College triumphed over Brandeis (18-9) and MIT (17-10), with their only loss coming against Harvard (8-19).The Eagles excelled in saber and foil, achieving a 2-1 record in each, while epee finished at 1-2.Notably, BC achieved a clean sweep of all three weapons in their match against Brandeis.
