Title: Dothan Man Fakes Trooper Identity, Claims Meeting Governor

DOTHAN, ​Ala. (WTVY) – A Houston County man is facing charges after allegedly posing⁣ as⁤ a state trooper and ⁢soliciting a ‌ride to ⁤Montgomery to meet Governor Kay Ivey, according to Dothan Police.

Jason Russell Leverette, 52, of Pansey, Alabama, approached employees at a finance office ‌in⁣ the Circle West Shopping Center ‌on Tuesday claiming to be a ⁢colonel⁢ working ‍undercover, and in need of transportation to the ⁣state capital. employees,suspicious of the claim,conducted an online search of Leverette’s name.

The search revealed a prior incident in Coweta county, ⁤Georgia, where Leverette allegedly identified⁤ himself as a U.S. ‍marshal while approaching ⁤a Newnan hospital armed with a ⁤firearm last⁤ year. Georgia authorities afterward​ charged​ him with disorderly conduct, reckless conduct, and impersonating a​ police officer. The current status​ of ⁣those charges remains ‍unknown.

Leverette is now charged in Dothan with impersonating ‌a police ‌officer.
