Title: Dave Caldwell Named Florida Gators Football General Manager

GAINESVILLE,‌ Fla. – ​The University of Florida has named Dave Caldwell as General Manager of ‌the‍ football program, head ‍coach Billy Napier announced today. Caldwell brings ⁢over two ‌decades⁢ of ‌NFL personnel ⁢experience to ​Gainesville, tasked with bolstering the program’s scouting, player development, and overall ‍operational efficiency.

Caldwell’s arrival marks a significant step in Napier’s ongoing efforts ‌to elevate the Gators⁣ to championship contention. ‌The appointment signals a‍ commitment to ​strengthening the foundational elements of the football program, providing crucial ⁤support to ‌Napier ⁢and his staff as they navigate the evolving landscape of college football. Caldwell will work ⁤closely with Napier and Director of Football operations Jon Sumrall to build a sustainable winning culture.

Caldwell most‍ recently served as⁢ Senior personnel⁢ Director/Advisor to‌ the General Manager for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2022-2025, and as a Personnel⁣ Executive with the Eagles in 2021. Prior to his time in ​Philadelphia,⁢ he ‌held the position of ‌General ‍Manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013-2020. He also served as Director of Player Personnel (2012) and Director of College Scouting (2008-2011)​ for the Atlanta falcons.

His‌ NFL career began in 1996 as a scouting​ assistant with the Carolina ‍Panthers,‍ where he spent two seasons. He then transitioned to⁤ the Indianapolis Colts as an Area Scout, a ‍role he held from 1998-2007.

A native of ‍Buffalo, New York, Caldwell earned a bachelor’s degree in finance/business administration from john Carroll University in 1996, where he ⁢was a two-year letter winner at outside linebacker. He​ and his wife, Joelle,​ have one son, David Michael⁣ II.
