Munich, Germany – Cupra has ignited excitement at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich with the unveiling of the masked Raval, a compact electric city car slated for launch in 2026. The Raval signals a notable step towards making electric mobility more accessible across Europe, promising a blend of emotive design, electrifying performance, and driver-focused engineering. Alongside the Raval, Cupra also debuted the striking Tindaya concept car, showcasing a bold vision for the brand’s future.
Raval: Barcelona’s Spirit, Electrified
The Cupra Raval, named after the vibrant and energetic El Raval district of Barcelona, is the first model in a family of four electric urban cars planned across Volkswagen Group’s core brands. Interim CEO Markus Haupt presented a vinyl-wrapped prototype at a pre-show event, the camouflage design cleverly mirroring a map of the namesake Barcelona neighborhood.
“Raval is more than a car,” stated Haupt. “It’s a project – the Electric Urban Car Family – that we are leading from Spain with immense pride. We are strengthening synergies within the Group and establishing the country as an epicenter of electric mobility, making these cars available to millions.”
Manufactured in Martorell, Spain, the Raval will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, featuring front-wheel drive and a length of just 4 meters. Despite its compact size, Cupra emphasizes the Raval is designed to be more than just a city runabout, promising a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
The Raval embodies Cupra’s core values: emotion, expressive design, and electrifying performance. It aims to deliver a compelling electric vehicle option for a wider range of consumers.
A Vision of Tomorrow: The Cupra Tindaya Concept
Alongside the practical Raval, Cupra presented a dramatic glimpse into its future with the world premiere of the Tindaya concept car. Inspired by the rugged volcanic landscape of Tindaja Mountain in the canary Islands, the showcar boasts a distinctive copper-toned aesthetic and a design ideology that Cupra describes as a revolution of its brand DNA.
The 4.72-meter long Tindaya features imposing 23-inch wheels, a unique 1/3 salon to 2/3 body proportion, and elevated ground clearance. Its fastback silhouette, combined with a compact cabin and athletic bodywork, creates a powerful and distinctive presence.
Inside, the Tindaya offers a 2+2 seating configuration with opposing doors, a next-generation “Cupbucket” seat design, and a modern take on the classic Eames Lounge chair. Sustainable materials, ergonomic design, and ambient lighting contribute to a soothing and enveloping interior experience.
“Cupra Tindaya is more than a car – it’s a radical statement,” Cupra asserts. “A bold expression of our design language, values, and innovations. While others move away from the driver, we are doubling down on what matters most: the connection to the road.”
Looking Ahead:
The Cupra Raval is set for a global premiere in Barcelona in February, with market launch expected shortly after. The Tindaya concept, while not slated for immediate production, provides a compelling indication of Cupra’s ambitious design direction and commitment to a driver-focused future.
