NEW YORK,NY – October 27,2023 – Columbia Law School’s Office of Public Interest/Public Service Law and Careers (PI/PS Office) today hosts a panel discussion focused on strategies to mitigate the growing influence of large campaign donations in elections,a trend considerably amplified since the Citizens United Supreme Court decision fifteen years ago.
The event, part of the “Advocacy Under Trump II” lunchtime series, will explore avenues for campaign finance reform, including increased donor openness, public campaign financing models, and legal challenges to limit the impact of wealth on electoral outcomes. experts will address the increasing role of super PACs and major donors-frequently enough described as a “broligarchy” of tech executives and billionaires-in shaping political landscapes.
