Chivas Reaches Agreement to Sign Brian Gutiérrez from Chicago fire
Guadalajara, Mexico – Chivas de Guadalajara has secured a verbal agreement to acquire midfielder Brian Gutiérrez from Chicago Fire, according to reports from Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo. The deal, confirmed live on Vamos Show, is for the purchase of Gutiérrez’s playing rights, with the transfer amount finalized and documentation pending. A contract agreement is also in place. “The news is that Brian Gutiérrez is a done deal and is a new reinforcement for chivas del Guadalajara,” Merlo revealed.
The acquisition of Gutiérrez marks a continued investment in the Rebaño Sagrado following a successful period of signings under sports management from Alejandro Manzo and Javier mier.The club secured Diego Campillo, Bryan González, Efraín Álvarez, and Richard Ledezma for under $15 million, with all four players meeting expectations. Owner of Chivas is expected to invest in at least three reinforcements, with Gutiérrez identified as a key target due to his recent acquisition of a Mexican passport.
Chicago Fire initially rejected a contract offer from Chivas this week, according to Medio Tiempo.That offer included a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, as reported by Juan Manuel Figueroa. The finalized agreement between the two clubs now clears the path for Gutiérrez to join Chivas for the Clausura 2026 season.
