Chadron State Women’s Wrestling Heads to Minot for Duals and Open

MINOT, N.D. – The Chadron State College women’s wrestling team travels to Minot, North Dakota, this weekend to compete in duals against Minot State, Sioux Falls, and Saskatchewan on Friday, November 24, followed by an open tournament on Saturday, November 25.

Chadron state, currently tied for 16th in the NWCA team rankings-a drop from their preseason tie for 10th-boasts nationally ranked talent led by reigning All-American Esther Peters, who is No.4 in the country at 207 pounds. The Eagles also have Piper Cadden ranked No.3 regionally at 131 pounds and Rylee Balcazar at No. 5 at 110 pounds. According to The Open Mat’s November 18 rankings, Brianna Vollendroff is No. 11 at 103 pounds, with Balcazar and Cadden also appearing at No. 11 and No. 9 respectively, and Peters at No.5.

Friday’s dual schedule begins with host Minot State, who enters with a 2-1 record. The Beavers feature two-time national qualifier Haleigh Lematta at 145 pounds. Sioux Falls (0-2) presents a challenge with freshman Kristy More, the No. 5-ranked 145-pounder in Region 6, and four regionally ranked wrestlers: More, Johanna Steinlicht (No. 4 at 138), Kylie Hulse (No. 5 at 160),and Zoe adam (No. 5 at 207). the Eagles will also face the University of Saskatchewan, competing from the Canada West Conference, whose recent success includes Alexis Lavers winning the 136-pound bracket and Myah Phillips dominating the 182-pound bracket at the Dino Open in Calgary.

Saturday’s open tournament will include Chadron State, Minot State, Sioux Falls, Saskatchewan, Dickinson State, Jamestown, Bismarck State, and Dakota Wesleyan.
