Title: Celtic Managerial Sweep: Nancy, McKenna, Bellamy & More

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Celtic are considering Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy as a potential replacement for Brendan ⁢Rodgers, according to ⁢ Sky Sports News. The Scottish club are evaluating options as ⁤they seek a permanent manager following Rodgers’ return to Leicester City in June.

The search comes at a critical juncture‍ for Celtic, who ‍aim to maintain ⁤their dominance in Scottish football and⁤ compete effectively in European competitions. Nancy has ‍garnered attention for his tactical approach and success with the crew, making him a compelling⁤ candidate for one of the ⁢most prestigious managerial ⁤positions in Scotland.

Ipswich‌ Town manager⁤ McKenna is among the contenders but has stated his current focus remains ‍with Ipswich, ‍and he has received no approach from Celtic. “It’s not⁤ somthing I’ve given any thought⁢ to,” McKenna‌ said last month. “I ‌know I’ve got a really special ⁤job here at a special and‌ massive football club and one⁣ I have a great affinity to. Honestly, anything outside of‌ that hasn’t touched my radar. I’ve ⁤been 100 ‌per‌ cent committed to‍ the group here.” When asked directly if Celtic had ‌contacted him, McKenna replied: “I’ve not had any ‍of those conversations or anything of the like. My focus has been purely‌ here.”

Wales boss Craig Bellamy, who previously played for‌ Celtic⁤ in 2005, is also a coach the club admire.⁢ However, Bellamy and ⁤the Football Association of ⁢Wales ‌(FAW) are currently focused‌ on upcoming World ‍Cup Qualifiers and ⁢preparations‍ for the World ⁣Cup next summer in the USA. A win⁣ for Wales against Liechtenstein ‌and North Macedonia would guarantee second place in Group J and ‌a home‍ playoff semi-final next March. Wales already have a playoff spot ⁢secured through their Nations ‌League Group win last ‌year, though that route‌ doesn’t guarantee‌ a home semi-final. Bellamy has publicly‌ expressed his ambition to lead‌ wales ⁣to the 2026 World Cup, a⁢ feat he was unable⁤ to⁢ achieve ‍as a player.
