Buckeyes’ NCAA Tournament Run Concludes with 4-1 Loss to Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Ohio State women’s soccer team’s notable postseason journey ended Friday with a 4-1 defeat to No. 6 Florida State in the NCAA Elite Eight. Despite a goal from forward Amanda Schlueter, the Buckeyes could not overcome a strong Seminole attack, concluding a season marked by programme milestones and individual accolades.

Ohio State finished the year with an overall record of 11-5-6, tying for sixth in the Big ten Conference and reaching the Elite Eight for the third time in program history. The team’s tournament run included victories over three ranked opponents, showcasing a resilient squad capable of challenging the nation’s best. The loss marks the end of a memorable season for the Buckeyes, but also highlights the program’s continued ascent under head coach Lori Walker-Hock.

Florida State seized control of the match with two goals before halftime, courtesy of Jordyn Dudley who scored in the 36th and 40th minutes. Schlueter ignited a spark for Ohio State early in the second half, netting her 11th goal of the season with a long-range shot that beat the Seminole goalkeeper. Though, Florida State quickly responded, adding goals in the 42nd and 85th minutes to secure a 4-1 victory and advance in the tournament.

Senior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard delivered a standout performance, recording eight saves in the match. this performance moved her past Nicole Morris (1994-96) into second place in program history with a total of 306 career saves. Pritchard was recently named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year,and joined teammate Mirann Gacioch on the All-Big Ten First Team. schlueter concluded the season with 27 points, fueled by her 11 goals.
