Bremen Stuns Düsseldorf, Bergneustadt Continues Winning Streak in TTBL Action

September 5, 2025 – Teh German Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) saw a major upset today as SV Werder Bremen secured a historic 3-0 victory over powerhouse Borussia Düsseldorf. Together,TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt continued its impressive start to the season with a 3-1 win against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Both teams remain undefeated after two match days, signaling a possibly thrilling season ahead.

Bremen Ends Düsseldorf Drought
Werder Bremen’s triumph marks their first win in Düsseldorf since 2013, a significant milestone for the club. The victory was a team effort, with Mattias Falck, Kirill Gerassimenko, and Irvin Bertrand each securing crucial points against Düsseldorf’s Li Yongyin, Anton Källberg, and BORGAR Haug.
Falck kicked off the singles competition with a decisive 3-1 win,followed by Gerassimenko’s victory over Källberg. Bertrand sealed the deal with a commanding 3-0 performance against Haug, completing the clean sweep for Bremen.
“It was not a good day from us, we didn’t play our best table tennis,” admitted Anton Källberg of borussia Düsseldorf. “Bremen won the narrow sentences and deservedly won.”
The win propels Bremen forward with a positive record,while Düsseldorf now stands at 1-1.
Bergneustadt Rides Duda’s Momentum
Meanwhile, TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt demonstrated their early season strength, overcoming TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen 3-1.Benedikt Duda, Germany’s top-ranked player, proved to be the key to Bergneustadt’s success, winning both of his matches.
Despite a strong showing from debutant Leo de Nokrest, who received enthusiastic support from the home crowd, Ochsenhausen couldn’t overcome Bergneustadt’s consistent performance. Romain Ruiz also contributed with a 3-0 victory over Leonardo IIzuka.
“I felt very supported by the audience, I want to thank you for that,” said De Nodrest following his first TTBL appearance.Ochsenhausen, playing without star player Shunsuke togami, now faces a 0-2 record. Bergneustadt, having previously upset Saarbrücken, is quickly establishing itself as a serious contender for a playoff spot.
