Brandy Exits Chicago concert Mid-Performance, Monica Completes Show Alone
CHICAGO, IL – Brandy Norwood abruptly left the stage Saturday night during a stop on “The Boy Is Mine Tour” at Chicago’s United Center, leaving Monica to finish the concert solo, according to reports and social media posts from concertgoers. The unexpected exit occurred early in the performance, preventing the duo from performing their iconic 1998 duet, “The Boy Is Mine.”
The incident has left fans confused and frustrated, raising questions about the status of the highly anticipated tour, which reunited the R&B stars after decades. Representatives for Norwood have not yet responded to requests for comment. The tour, featuring appearances from Kelly Rowland and Muni Long, launched Thursday in Cincinnati and was intended to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the duo’s collaborative album and chart-topping single.
Witnesses shared videos online showing Norwood walking offstage, stating she needed a moment to address sound issues. “Give me one second y’all I gotta get my-“ Norwood said in a TikTok video before heading backstage, and did not return.
Audience members reported a lack of explanation for Norwood’s departure. One concertgoer posted on X (formerly Twitter),stating they “never saw her again,” adding that Monica “monologued, sat, sung and left. No bye, no nothing. Screen went off. Lights came on and they told us to get out.” Another shared a video of the visibly upset crowd after the house lights came on, writing that Brandy “just threw a fit and left the stage 75% before the show was over.”
“The Boy Is Mine Tour” is scheduled to continue Monday in detroit. It remains unclear if Norwood will rejoin the tour for subsequent dates.
