Thunderbirds Add Veteran Defenseman Calle Rosen in Trade with Capitals
SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Springfield Thunderbirds have acquired defenseman Calle Rosen from the Washington Capitals organization, the St. Louis Blues announced today, November 3, 2025. The transaction involves a trade with the Capitals,sending defenseman Corey Schueneman to Washington,and a subsequent deal between the Thunderbirds and Hershey Bears,trading forward Sam Bitten for future considerations.
Rosen, 31, brings a wealth of AHL and NHL experience to Springfield, bolstering the Thunderbirds’ defensive corps. This move allows the Blues organization to add depth while providing Rosen a familiar environment – he previously skated in 108 games for the Thunderbirds between 2021 and 2024.The acquisition is particularly notable as Rosen will immediately join the Thunderbirds, aiming to contribute to their 2025-26 season campaign.
This season, Rosen has registered seven points (one goal, six assists) in nine games with the Hershey Bears, the Capitals’ AHL affiliate. Throughout his AHL career, spanning 360 games, the Vaxjo, Sweden native has amassed 198 points (36 goals, 162 assists) and 148 penalty minutes.
Rosen is no stranger to the NHL, having appeared in parts of six seasons, including a three-year stint with the St. Louis Blues from 2021-2024. During the 2022-23 season with the Blues, he achieved a career-high 18 points (eight goals, ten assists) in 49 regular-season games. Rosen has recorded 26 points (10 goals,16 assists) and a +16 rating in 73 games with St. Louis.
