bekasi Resident Finds Unexpected Bounty as Heatwave Fuels Guava Harvest
BEKASI, indonesia – While much of the region swelters under a prolonged heatwave, one Bekasi resident is experiencing a surprising windfall. Haji Saumin’s guava trees are producing an unusually abundant harvest, providing both sustenance for the community and a welcome boost to his income.
The recent high temperatures, reaching 34 degrees Celsius according to data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), are proving remarkably beneficial for the growth of Saumin’s guava trees. Neighbors, relatives, and even local children regularly visit to pick the fruit, with a significant portion distributed freely and the remainder sold to local fruit vendors – resulting in harvests measured in sacks.
“Thank God, this hot sun actually brings blessings,” Saumin told infobekasi on Sunday, October 12, 2025. “Apart from being able to increase our income, we can also enjoy fresh guava salad amidst the hot Bekasi weather recently.”
Saumin’s success extends beyond guavas. Sapodilla trees planted on his property are also consistently bearing fruit, shared generously with those around him. A retired civil servant in Bekasi Regency, Saumin initially planted the trees to utilize empty land around his home.
“Most of us give it to neighbors and relatives. The initial intention was just to grow crops. If someone buys the fruit, it’s a blessing, thank god,” he explained.
Haji Saumin’s story highlights the potential for possibility even in challenging circumstances, demonstrating how a perceived hardship – the intense heat - can be transformed into a source of prosperity and community benefit.
