Baby Chance Remains Hospitalized, Faces Uncertain Holiday Return

ATLANTA – baby Chance, born to a Georgia woman who was declared brain-dead earlier this year, continues to receive care in the neonatal intensive care unit and may not be able to return home for the holidays, according to a recent update on a family GoFundMe page. The infant, weighing approximately 11 pounds, requires ongoing specialized care for underdeveloped lungs and is expected to be transferred to another hospital soon.

The case gained national attention in February when the mother, who was two months pregnant, suffered a medical emergency resulting in brain death. She was initially kept on life support, a decision initially attributed to GeorgiaS heartbeat law, though the state Attorney General’s office later clarified that no state statute required continued life support. The circumstances surrounding the decision remain contested between the family and state officials.

The GoFundMe campaign, established to support Chance’s medical expenses and ongoing care, remains active as the family navigates the challenges of his prolonged hospitalization. Supporters can contribute at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-adrianas-family-during-this-heartbreaking-journey.
