New York Attorney General Urges DoorDash Workers to Claim Settlement Funds by ⁣December 31st

new York Attorney General Letitia James is reminding current and former DoorDash delivery workers (“Dashers”) to submit claims for restitution from a $16.75 million settlement by ⁢ December‌ 31,⁤ 2025, at 11:59 p.m. The settlement stems from an examination by the attorney GeneralS Office (OAG) which ⁤revealed DoorDash misled⁢ both⁤ customers and Dashers regarding the use of customer tips.

The OAG found that‍ DoorDash used tips intended for Dashers to offset their ‍guaranteed pay, effectively reducing the amount workers actually received. While customers were led to believe their tips directly ⁤benefited Dashers – even prompted with messages like “Dashers will always recieve ‍100 percent of the tip” – DoorDash‌ was, in fact, using those funds to lower its own labor costs. The company ‍would guarantee a pay amount, then only pay the difference between that guarantee and the customer’s tip. This practice lacked transparency, with⁢ crucial facts buried in difficult-to-access online documents.

“delivery workers ⁤keep ⁣this city running, and⁢ they deserve to see every dollar earned for their ⁤hard work,” stated Attorney General‍ James. “I encourage all eligible current and former Dashers to submit their claims right away so they can ⁣receive‌ the compensation they are owed. My⁢ office will keep fighting to ensure every worker in New York is treated with ⁤dignity and respect.”

Approximately 63,000 New ⁢York Dashers who delivered between May 2017 and September 2019 and had tips applied ⁤to their guaranteed pay are eligible for funds. As of December 3rd, over 30,000 claims have already been submitted.

The settlement with DoorDash also ⁢requires the ‍company to revise its payment‌ practices, increase ⁣transparency for both customers and Dashers, and improve access to order history for Dashers.

Eligible Dashers have been notified of the settlement via⁣ mail, ⁣email, or text message by Atticus Administration, the self-reliant administrator. Those who ‌have received a notice are ‌urged to file a claim online at https://www.nydoordashsettlement.com/ quickly.

Dashers ⁣experiencing⁢ issues filing⁢ a claim can contact Atticus Administration directly. Questions about ‍the settlement can be directed to 1-800-270-1039 or info@NYDoorDashSettlement.com. further information ⁣is available on the OAG’s website: ⁢ https://ag.ny.gov/doordash-settlement.
