Apple Unveils Watch Series 11 with Blood Pressure Monitoring, Enhanced Sleep Tracking
CUPERTINO, CA – September 12, 2024 – Apple today announced its latest lineup of Apple Watches, headlined by the Series 11, which introduces hypertension awareness features and a complete new sleep score. Alongside the series 11, Apple also revealed the Watch SE 3 and the rugged Watch Ultra 3, expanding its wearable offerings with updated technology and health capabilities.
The Watch Series 11 is Apple’s thinnest smartwatch to date, featuring Ion-X glass with a ceramic coating-claimed to be twice as durable as the previous generation’s material. Available in 42mm and 46mm sizes with aluminum and titanium casings, the Series 11’s key innovation is its pending-FDA-clearance hypertension awareness feature, designed to alert users to potential blood pressure irregularities. A new sleep score, ranging from 0 to 100, assesses nightly rest based on duration, consistency, sleep stages, and wakeups. Continuous heart rate and blood oxygen tracking are also included, supported by improved 24-hour battery life. Aluminum models will come in Jet Black, Silver, Rose Gold, and Space Grey, while titanium variants are offered in Natural Titanium, Gold, and Slate. Pricing starts at $399 for the 42mm aluminum version and $429 for the 46mm model,with cellular options adding $100 to the cost.
The more affordable Watch SE 3 gains an Always-On Display, the S10 chip from last year’s models, and optional 5G support. it also incorporates the new sleep score tool and 24/7 health monitoring. Available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, the SE 3 introduces double-tap and wrist flick gestures, alongside fast charging that delivers eight hours of usage from a 15-minute charge. The Watch SE 3 is available in starlight and Midnight colors, starting at $249, with deliveries scheduled for September 19.
Rounding out the lineup, the Watch Ultra 3 features an LTPO 3.0 OLED display for improved brightness and slimmer bezels, optional 5G connectivity, and enhanced satellite features for Emergency SOS, messaging, and location sharing. Like the Series 11, it includes hypertension awareness and the new sleep score. Apple has also increased battery life to 42 hours-the longest ever for an Apple Watch. The Ultra 3 is available in Black Titanium and natural Titanium finishes, starting at $799, with deliveries also beginning on September 19.
