Alex RodriguezS ex-Wife Reveals Challenges of Raising Family During Yankees Stardom
NEW YORK – cynthia Scurtis, ex-wife of former New York yankees star Alex Rodriguez, offered a candid look at the difficulties of family life during his high-profile baseball career in the upcoming HBO docuseries, “Alex vs. ARod.” Scurtis detailed the pressures of navigating a demanding baseball schedule and intense public scrutiny while raising their two daughters, Natasha and Ella.
Scurtis and Rodriguez, who married in 2002 and divorced in 2008, have maintained a close co-parenting relationship. Though, Scurtis described the period during rodriguez’s time with the Yankees as “exciting but… really hard,” clarifying, “It was not fantastic.” She emphasized the unique challenges presented by the “diffrent level of notoriety” and constant attention that came with living in New York.
Rodriguez, now 50, has spoken of his desire to provide for his daughters in ways his own father could not, stating, “It has been the most rewarding part of my life watching them grow up and being a part of their life, by far.” Scurtis revealed Rodriguez’s eagerness to start a family shortly after their marriage, acknowledging she initially wasn’t ready for the responsibility. “He wasn’t going to be able to contribute much with his schedule so I knew the majority of it was going to land on my shoulders,” she said.”but he’s very convincing.When he wants something, he’s very convincing.”
The former couple and their daughters recently attended the premiere of “Alex vs. ARod” in New York City, alongside Rodriguez’s girlfriend, jaclyn Cordeiro, and retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
“Alex vs. ARod” will air in three parts,with Episode 1 premiering Thursday,November 6,followed by Episodes 2 and 3 on November 13 and November 20,respectively.
