-title Actress Lee Young-ae Funds Thai Student’s Medical Expenses

Gwangju,‍ South⁣ Korea – November 14, 2025 – Actress Lee young-ae​ has donated 10 million won to ​support Sirinya, a Thai student at Chonnam⁤ National⁢ University ⁤who​ collapsed from⁢ a cerebral hemorrhage while studying ⁣Korean. The ​donation⁣ will aid in Sirinya’s medical expenses and transport back to Thailand.

Sirinya,a student‍ at the ⁢Chonnam National University Language Education Center,was found unconscious‌ in her dormitory last July and diagnosed wiht a‌ subdural hemorrhage. ⁣She has remained in a coma as then.⁤ Her mother faced initial difficulties ⁣traveling ​to ⁤Korea but⁣ was eventually able to arrive after fundraising efforts.

Students and faculty‌ at Chonnam National​ University, spearheaded by the relief volunteer club ‘Rhythm of Hope,’ initiated a fundraising‌ campaign ‍last October to ⁤cover air ambulance costs, ‍surgery, and‌ hospitalization fees, initially aiming ⁤to raise⁤ 9 million won. The campaign surpassed its goal,‌ collecting more than double the amount.

Lee Young-ae, ⁤upon learning of Sirinya’s situation, contributed ​10 million won to ‘Rhythm⁣ of Hope.’ She expressed her gratitude, stating,‍ “I⁢ am rather grateful that the students‌ did such a good job.”

Korean Air is also assisting with Sirinya’s repatriation, providing space for ventilators and medical ‍equipment ‌on the flight. Sirinya‍ is scheduled to depart from Incheon ​Airport for Thailand at 7 pm on November 15th.

Lee Bo-ram, CEO of Rhythm of Hope⁢ and a second-year law ⁤student, shared her sentiments,⁤ saying, “I‍ was so sad that I couldn’t help directly, but after starting⁤ the fundraising campaign, I was truly grateful to see so many people joining ⁣in, and I received ⁤great courage and comfort. I hope Sirinya regains consciousness as soon as possible.”
