Sony Pictures has unveiled two new trailers-domestic and international versions-for “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” intensifying anticipation for the continuation of the acclaimed horror franchise. The film, slated for release on January 16th, 2026, promises a visceral return to the world ravaged by the rage virus.
The sequel directly follows the events of this summer’s “28 Years Later,” picking up with Alfie Williams reprising his role as spike. He quickly finds himself entangled with Jack O’Connell’s character, Sir Jimmy Crystal, and his unsettling group of followers known as the ‘Jimmies.’ this encounter sets the stage for a hazardous confrontation involving ralph Fiennes as Dr. Kelson and Chi Lewis-Parry as Samson, a formidable carrier of the Alpha virus.
Production on “The Bone Temple” commenced just three weeks after filming wrapped on “28 Years Later,” demonstrating a swift continuation of the story. Alex Garland, the writer behind the original films, returns to pen the screenplay, while Danny Boyle, director of the first installment, serves as a producer.Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original “28 Days Later,” is executive producing and is anticipated to make a cameo appearance, potentially leading to a more significant role in a planned third film.
