Two killed, Multiple Injured in Northwest Las vegas Multi-Vehicle Crash
LAS VEGAS – A multi-vehicle collision in northwest Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, left two people dead and multiple others injured, prompting a renewed call for traffic safety from Metro Police. The crash occurred at the intersection of West Lake Mead Boulevard and North Rainbow Boulevard, shutting down the area for several hours.
The incident marks the 143rd and 144th traffic-related fatalities in Metro’s jurisdiction this year, highlighting a concerning trend of preventable accidents. Metro Deputy Chief James Hernandez emphasized the urgency of addressing roadway safety, stating, ”This has to stop.” The crash underscores the vulnerability of Las Vegas roadways and the potential for devastating consequences stemming from traffic incidents.
According to eyewitnesses, one vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a chain-reaction collision. “He said she had no pulse,” stated Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Cohen, describing the scene. “I’ve never seen anything like that. She never hit the brakes.”
Hernandez stressed that improving safety requires a collective effort. “It’s going to take an entire community effort” to make Las Vegas roadways safer, he said, standing near the wreckage. “Our officers are tired of responding to scenes like this, where innocent lives are taken. The worst part about all this is that it’s absolutely preventable.”
The intersection was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
