Timnas Indonesia: Pemain Tiba & Disambut Herdman Jelang FIFA Series 2026
Players for the Indonesian national team began arriving at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta on Monday, preparing for their first match in the FIFA Series 2026 against Saint Kitts and Nevis, according to a post on the official Instagram account of the Indonesian national team.
Head coach John Herdman and members of his coaching staff greeted the arriving players. The team is scheduled to face Saint Kitts and Nevis on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.
The return of Ipswich Town defender Elkan Baggott to the national team has drawn particular attention. Baggott has not played for Indonesia since the 2023 Asian Cup, marking a more than two-year absence. Players from Indonesia’s Super League, including Eliano Reijnders, Beckham Putra, Rizky Ridho, Nadeo Argawinata, Cahya Supriadi, and Ivar Jenner, were as well among those arriving at the hotel.
Sumardji, Chairman of the National Team Body (BTN), previously stated that players would arrive in Jakarta in stages. Players competing in the Super League were scheduled to arrive first, followed by diaspora players currently playing abroad. “Local players will gather on March 22nd. Diaspora players will arrive from March 23rd-24th. The entire team will be assembled by March 24th,” Sumardji said on March 19th.
Herdman initially called up 41 players before narrowing the squad to 24 for the FIFA Series 2026. Indonesia is one of four nations participating in the tournament, which will also feature Bulgaria, the Solomon Islands, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. The tournament will utilize a knockout format, with semi-finals and a final match.
Former Indonesian national team coach Ivan Kolev has urged Herdman to prioritize players from the domestic Super League 2025-2026. Kolev, speaking from Bulgaria, acknowledged he could not yet comment extensively on a potential match between Indonesia and his home country, but expressed confidence both teams would strive to perform at their best.
Saint Kitts and Nevis has released its 23-player squad for the FIFA Series match, including players currently with Liverpool.
