Ticketmaster Implements Resale Price Caps Following Olivia Dean‘s Advocacy
LOS ANGELES – ticketmaster has begun capping resale prices on Olivia Dean concert tickets following the artist’s public call for the company to “be better” adn protect fans from exorbitant markups. The move, announced this week, aims to ensure more affordable access to tickets and curb scalping practices, perhaps setting a new precedent for high-demand events.
Dean’s advocacy stemmed from observing ticket sales for her recently announced 2026 tour, which saw significant demand – prompting three additional nights at Madison Square Garden. After reviewing sales data, Ticketmaster reported that less than 20% of primary tickets were listed for resale, indicating a strong base of genuine fans intending to attend the shows. however, Dean publicly challenged the platform to do more to prevent inflated prices for those remaining tickets. This initiative by Ticketmaster represents a direct response to her concerns and a broader effort to address affordability in live entertainment.
The ticketing giant framed the decision as a step toward leading by example, stating they hope it will help fans afford shows they’ve been considering-or discover new artists. The company shared insights revealing the high demand for Dean’s tour, and the relatively low percentage of primary tickets appearing on the resale market, suggesting the majority were purchased by fans.
Dean, a rising star whose career has gained momentum with a Saturday Night Live debut on November 15 and performances in Australia, including at the 2025 ARIA Awards, currently has four tracks on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Man I Need” at No. 5. Her sophomore album, The Art of Loving, is at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and debuted at no. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart in October.
