Thunderbird 145.0 Launches with Native Exchange Support & Enhanced Privacy
Mozilla has released Thunderbird version 145.0,introducing native support for Microsoft Exchange via Exchange Web Services. This eliminates the need for third-party solutions for users seeking to connect exchange accounts directly within the email client, with manual configuration options available for those experiencing setup issues.
The update also prioritizes user privacy with the addition of DNS over HTTPS (DoH), encrypting DNS queries for increased security during email retrieval. Users now have the option to manually configure email accounts within the Account Hub,offering flexibility for specialized setups.
Alongside these key features, Mozilla has streamlined the application by removing Skype integration from the address book – reflecting the service’s discontinuation – and standardized terminology, replacing ”junk” with “spam” throughout the interface. Support for 32-bit Linux distributions based on x86 has been discontinued.
Thunderbird 145.0 includes a significant number of bug fixes, addressing issues such as attachment overwriting, redundant header downloads, ICS drag-and-drop functionality, and the display of external content in EML messages.A complete changelog is available for those seeking detailed details.
