UniversalS Epic Universe, slated to open in 2025, will feature five uniquely themed areas, including a new land inspired by the Wizarding World’s Ministry of Magic, as revealed by Universal Orlando Resort officials.
The expansive park, currently under construction in Orlando, Florida, represents a $1.1 billion investment by Comcast, Universal’s parent company. Epic Universe aims to significantly expand Universal Orlando’s footprint and attract a broader audience with immersive experiences beyond the existing two theme parks and Volcano Bay water park. The new areas will also include Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.
The Ministry of Magic area will transport guests into the 1920s British wizarding world, offering a unique outlook on the franchise not previously explored in Universal’s existing Wizarding World attractions. According to universal, the land will recreate iconic locations from the Fantastic Beasts films and offer new magical experiences.
Beyond the Ministry of Magic,Super Nintendo World will bring the Mushroom Kingdom to life,while How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk will immerse visitors in the world of the popular DreamWorks franchise. Dark Universe will draw inspiration from Universal’s classic monster movies, and the second Wizarding World area will complement the existing Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley lands.
Construction began in 2019,and the park is expected to create approximately 14,000 new jobs. Universal has acquired over 750 acres for the project, making Epic Universe one of the largest theme park expansions in recent history. The opening in 2025 is anticipated to boost tourism in the Orlando area and further solidify Universal Orlando’s position as a major entertainment destination.
