This brand new swimming pool is also forced to close

New Eindhoven Pool Shut Down After Just Days

A recently opened children’s pool in Eindhoven has been abruptly closed due to a dangerous issue. The coating of the pool is detaching, presenting a safety hazard to young swimmers, leaving park officials scrambling for solutions.

Rapid Closure Due to Coating Failure

The children’s pool at Speelpark De Splinter in Eindhoven has been shut down shortly after opening. The park manager, Hugo Jansen, expressed his disappointment with the unexpected closure. The coating is coming loose from the concrete, exposing sharp edges and posing a risk.

“It is very unfortunate. But it was no longer justified to keep the swimming pool open.”

According to the CDC, about 3,500 people drown each year in the United States, highlighting the importance of safe swimming environments and proper pool maintenance. (CDC)

Seeking Solutions

The municipality of Eindhoven is now consulting with the contractor to find a solution for the damaged pool. While the swimming pool remains closed, children can still enjoy the park’s new water playground for cooling off.
