Thierry Henry Lands Key role with FOX Sports for 2026 World Cup
Thierry Henry will be a prominent voice during the 2026 World Cup, taking on a notable role with FOX Sports as the tournament unfolds primarily in the United States.
The former star striker has transitioned into a multifaceted career as retiring as a player in 2014. He’s held coaching positions with Monaco, the Montreal Impact, the Belgian national team, and lead France’s Espoirs and Olympic squads – earning a silver medal with the latter at the Paris Games.
While he hasn’t actively coached recently, Henry has remained a fixture in the football world as a popular analyst for CBS Sports during Champions League coverage, alongside micah Richards and Jamie Carragher. Now, he’s expanding his broadcasting portfolio with FOX Sports.
This Friday, Henry will lead FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2026 World Cup draw, hosting a 3.5-hour multiplex beginning at 6 p.m. French time. The 2026 tournament, co-hosted by the united States, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first-ever World Cup featuring 48 teams, and FOX Sports holds exclusive American television rights.
“The name Thierry Henry is synonymous with excellence in the world of football,” said Brad Zager, head of FOX Sports, as reported by the Daily Mail. “As part of football’s elite, we are thrilled to welcome Thierry Henry to our roster for the greatest World Cup of all time and allow viewers to hear from this renowned champion throughout this historic tournament next summer.”
Henry himself expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s an honor and privilege to be part of FOX Sports’ World Cup coverage. For me, the World Cup is the ultimate sporting event and joining the team and contributing to the competition fills me with immense joy. The draw in Washington tomorrow means kick-off is imminent. I’m eager to!”
