Neeson & Anderson Share ‘Naked Gun’ Jitters
Unlikely co-stars debut on-screen chemistry in comedy sequel
Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson admitted to feeling “dazed” after their first viewing of the new The Naked Gun installment. The veteran actors, who star in the upcoming comedy, sat side-by-side for the private screening, both expressing a touch of self-consciousness about seeing themselves on the large screen.
Surprising On-Screen Pairing
“It’s tough to watch yourself,” commented Anderson, known for her iconic role in Baywatch. “You take yourself apart. I hardly even look in the mirror.” Neeson, who boasts over a century of films, added, “But you’re seeing yourself 20 feet high.”
The pair, an “unlikely duo” according to the article, bonded over shared personal habits like early bedtimes and a dislike for carrying mobile phones. Their real-life rapport seems to have translated onto the screen, with Neeson praising Anderson‘s audition, stating, “She was real. She was funny. Incredibly sexy.”
Chemistry Off-Screen and On
Anderson noted the importance of their on-screen chemistry, to which Neeson agreed, saying, “That just came naturally.” The actors revealed that director Akiva Schaffer showed Neeson Anderson‘s audition tape before she had even been cast. Despite Neeson admitting he “didn’t watch Baywatch,” he was clearly impressed by her performance.

A New Chapter for Both Stars
Both Anderson and Neeson are experiencing career renaissances. Anderson has garnered critical acclaim for recent acting roles, including a Golden Globe-nominated performance in The Last Showgirl. Meanwhile, Neeson continues to be a formidable presence in action films, despite his age. As Neeson, who turns 73 soon, quipped, “They know what age I am, right?… OK. I’ll be there.”
Comedy Challenges
The stars admitted that comedy is not their most comfortable genre. “I went to an industry screening of it [High Spirits] with the producer in LA,” recalled Neeson of a past comedy flop. “The film started and you could have heard a pin drop.” Anderson shared a similar sentiment about her experience hosting Saturday Night Live, noting, “You could have heard a pin drop” regarding her own comedic timing.

The upcoming film, produced by Seth MacFarlane, reportedly features a rapid-fire joke delivery, a style that surprised both actors. They were provided with numerous alternate jokes, or “alts,” for each scene. “You get this whole stack of alts and it’s like, ‘What’s an alt?’ I’d never heard of this before,” said Anderson.
Future Sequels?
Despite their initial nerves, both actors expressed eagerness for a potential sequel. “I would, absolutely. In a heartbeat,” stated Neeson, with Anderson adding, “I’ll follow him anywhere.”
The Naked Gun is slated for release on August 1.
