Latvian Theater Accessible Online: “Theater.zip” Launches 14th Season
Riga – Latvian Social Media, in partnership with the boris and Inara Teterev Foundation, is presenting the 14th season of “Theater.zip,” a program offering filmed performances from Latvian theaters. Since its launch in autumn 2012, the series has recorded 233 performances representing 292 shows, reaching over 8,598,900 viewers across thirteen seasons.
This season’s lineup includes: the Latvian Puppet Theater’s production of ”Fine ailments” (October 25), inspired by Erika Adamson’s novels; a performance combining Martha Hiller’s diary and oksana Zabuzko’s essays focusing on women’s experiences during wartime, featuring actors Inese Ramute, Martins Liepa, and Gerda Embure; the New riga Theater’s “Land of deafemo” (first Saturday in November) starring Chulpana Hamatova; and the Daile theater’s ancient drama ”Where the country disappeared” (November 8) with Imants Strads as Karl Ulmanis.
Prior to each performance,Ojārs Rubenis will host conversations with the creators and cast involved.
