Witcher 3’s Highly Anticipated Mod Support Delayed Until 2026
Warsaw,Poland – CD Projekt Red announced today that the long-awaited multiplatform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not launch this year as originally planned,pushing the release window back to 2026.The delay impacts PlayStation 5 adn Xbox Series X/S players eager to access and share user-created content directly through the game.
Announced in May to commemorate the approaching 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3, the update promised to bring official mod support to consoles, mirroring the robust modding community already thriving on PC. The feature, utilizing the mod.io platform, was intended to allow seamless sharing and installation of mods across all platforms – PC, PS5, and xbox Series X/S – and would be offered free of charge. CD projekt Red stated users will need to link their MOD.IO account wiht their CD Projekt Red profile to utilize the functionality.
The studio shared the news via X (formerly twitter), stating the delay was necessary for the multiplatform mod service. No specific reason for the postponement was given, and CD Projekt Red has not yet provided a more precise launch timeframe.All mods submitted to the platform will undergo a verification process, with those created using Redkit - the game’s official modding tool – having a higher likelihood of approval, according to the developers.
