The Summer I Turned Pretty: Prime Video Issues Warning Against Bullying Ahead of Season 3

Prime Video Enforces Strict Anti-Bullying Policy Ahead of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 3

Prime Video has announced a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech concerning “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” with a clear warning that violations will result in bans. The platform’s community guidelines explicitly prohibit “hate speech or bullying,” “targeting our cast or crew,” and “harassing or doxxing members of the community.”

This announcement comes as anticipation builds for the third and final season of the popular series, adapted from Jenny Han’s best-selling book trilogy. The upcoming season will explore Belly Conklin’s (Lola Tung) continued romantic indecision between brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), four years after she initially chose Jeremiah. Fans have been actively engaged in discussions about the series’ conclusion, particularly regarding belly’s ultimate choice and whether the on-screen adaptation will mirror the book’s storyline.

Following Prime Video’s statement, many fans expressed their support for the policy, while also pointing out that instances of bullying have been present since the show’s debut. Notably, last season saw negative online discourse surrounding the introduction of Elsie Fisher‘s nonbinary character, Skye, who was not featured in the original books. At the time, author Jenny Han addressed these hurtful comments, emphasizing that “The Summer I Turned Pretty community is one of inclusivity” and urging fans to be mindful of their online behavior.

Season three of “The Summer I turned Pretty” will consist of 11 episodes and is spearheaded by showrunners Jenny han and Sarah Kucserka. Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt are executive producers, alongside Paul Lee, hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen for wiip. The series is a collaborative production between Amazon Studios and wiip.
