HBO has released a trailer for its upcoming series, *The Seduction*, a reimagining of the classic French novel *Dangerous Liaisons*.The series, starring Anamaria Vartolomei, Vincent Lacoste, Diane Kruger, and Lucas Bravo, premieres November 14 on HBO and HBO max.
*The Seduction* offers a contemporary take on the 18th-century story of manipulation and revenge, exploring themes of power and freedom for women. The new adaptation centers on the Marquise de Merteuil (Vartolomei) as she navigates Parisian society following a betrayal by the Vicomte de Valmont (Lacoste), aiming to become the city’s most prominent courtesan. The source material has seen previous adaptations, including a 1988 film starring Glenn Close and the 1999 movie *Cruel Intentions* featuring sarah Michelle Gellar.
Kruger portrays Madame de Rosemonde, with Bravo as the Comte de Gercourt. According to a press release, the series is “a thrilling exploration of the price of emotional and sexual freedom in a world where women had little.”
