The repair ended but the traffic cuts continue in Córdoba

Water Service Restored in Córdoba After Major Duct Break

A critical water main rupture in the El Tropezón area of Córdoba has been repaired, restoring service to approximately 100 neighborhoods after a weekend outage. Crews worked around the clock to fix the damage, which impacted numerous residents.

Repair Efforts Conclude

The company, Aguas Cordobesas, completed repairs on Monday morning to restore normal water service. The breakage, which occurred on a branch of a duct, caused an interruption that began on Saturday evening. Repair work was complicated by the presence of other services.

The company had requested that residents conserve water for basic needs like hygiene, drinking, and food preparation. The water tanks provide up to 24 hours of autonomy. Some residents expressed frustration over delays in the company’s initial warning about the service interruption.

Affected Areas and Services

Alternative water supplies were arranged for sensitive clients, including clinics, hospitals, and geriatric facilities. The affected neighborhoods include a large number of residential areas and various institutions.

Traffic Considerations

The repair location is a critical area where various services converge. Technicians from different institutions collaborated to ensure the task’s success. They reviewed the conduits, pedestrian bridges, and maintained communication with transit police. Due to the ongoing works, access branches to the outer ring of Circunvalación Avenue, towards Carlos Paz, were completely closed.

Motorists traveling on Route E-55 from La Calera or Avenida Ejército Argentino who wished to access Circunvalación towards Carlos Paz or the southern arch of the ring, needed to adjust their routes. They were directed to a roundabout in front of the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium, using that to access the ring road heading south. The same route applied to motorists from downtown Córdoba along Columbus Avenue.

Motorists were advised to exercise caution and heed all posted instructions. A recent study showed a 15% increase in water main breaks across the region, highlighting the need for infrastructure upgrades (Source 2024).
